Current workaround is as follow
- Open Thunar
- Go to Edit > Preferences…
- On Display tab, check or uncheck Show file size in binary format at least one time (and choose what you like before you press close)

Thunar still crashes )’: I’m giving up on Thunar for the foreseeable future. I’d prefer to use it, but at least Nautilus doesn’t crash when doing simple things like file renames
